Star Gazing

Not sure if it is because I’m tired, or all of my traveling, but I am a little obsessed with stars these days. I go months without seeing them in the city, then am completely overwhelmed when I see them, so bright and close, other places. So I’ll take stars anyway I can get them, on walls, scarves, lights  or tape.

Check back tomorrow for a star gazing party.

Fall is Fighting

You guys know I am a total summer girl. I’d wear tank tops year round if the seasons allowed it…but I have to admit that fall is doing it’s best to make me fall in love. The boots, the perfect sunny weather, and you know what? The best things always happen to me in the fall. Let’s hope this year keeps up the trend.

Some things I’m {starting} to love this fall…

Adorable syrup favors.

Vegan chocolate pots. Eat hot or cold.

Foxes are everywhere.

I love this not too serious take on fall colors.

Apple drinks. Of course.

Gorgeous flowers.

Scents to Match My Mood

At an event we are {hopefully} surrounded by friendly and loved ones. With all of those greetings of hugs or talking close, its nice to smell good. Even better when you know that scent reflects you– or at least for that moment.

I have a pretty sensitive sense of smell {I annoy my husband and work mates} so it takes me awhile to pick out a scent. I have to try it on a couple of times and then smell it hours later. Depending on the weather, they can even smell different to me, sometimes good, sometimes not quite right. So I’ve developed a couple of perfumes over many years that work for me, depending on response and style that day.

P.S. I also have a sexy scent and a travel scent…but I’ll leave that for next time.

Trend Watch: Nail Tips

I’m not big on nail art {it’s time consuming and looks a bit tacky} even as I love bold colors. But this new trend of fun tips is really making me rethink my stance. It adds a classy bit of color and excitement to plain nails or a bit of design to fully painted ones. Either way, it’s a trend to try!

A Stylish Mother of the Bride

I love this non-frumpy mother outfit (or MIL!). For a woman who knows who she is but is still appropriate {no white dresses here!}. Modern yet beautiful. {via The Sweetest Occasion}

Gold Barrettes

I’m headed to a yoga retreat this weekend {amongst other things} and need something to hold my hair back. I saw some adorable bobby pins at Anthropologie the other day, but they weren’t quite what I was looking for, so I decided to make my own. These could be cute to wear to a party, or maybe favors for little girls at a party.

I had a barrette and a handful of bobby pins and some gold paint {oil based} leftover from another project.

And I painted a couple of coats with the gold paint.

I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. The barrette was already a gold tone, but now it looks special, especially for a quick DIY. Next time I think I’ll add gold glitter {especially if it’s for little girls!}, but this will be perfect for the Berkshires.
