Love: Heart Studs

I don’t wear a lot of studs {dangling or hoops are much more my style} but I’m crushing on these heart earrings. They look sweet, but not too sweet, like you know the wearer of this jewelry has more going on than just niceness. Wouldn’t they make a great gift for your sassy bridesmaids?

Dinner Party Favors

Just as things are starting to heat up in Hong Kong we are finally ready to start hosting. I mentioned my potential half birthday party, I’m co-hosting an art event this coming weekend, and I’m trying to get a dinner party on the calendar.

I’m not a huge pasta eater {I usually reserve it for nights we are tired and cold and don’t want to cook} but after seeing these adorable take aways, I’m really tempted to have an Italian night. Especially here, where sauce prices are higher due to import, people would adore and cherish a jar of homemade marinara.

Cute, right? Working on my guest list…

Baby Shower in a Box

One of the hardest things about living overseas is being {and sometimes feeling} far away from your friends and family during important times in their lives. Technology has made it a lot easier to stay in touch and even be a part of big days, but sometimes things you can touch and feel make your relationship more tangible.

One of my dearest friends in New York is nearly due with a little girl named Emi. The mother-t0-be is one of the strongest people I know, and yet physically one of the smallest! This kick-ass lady loves pink like nobodies business so I know her baby will be dressed as the princess- and athlete– that she will become. I can’t wait for this litte girl to be born and I couldn’t help but put together a box of love for Emi and her mommy.

My friend also spent some time in Hong Kong, so I added some items that are specific to the region, like this baby book and tiny chinese slippers {ok, and maybe to remind Emi of her Aunt Sara} . I made a banner– for her room or to welcome her home, personalized special. I also made the mobile, and put together a little pampering kit for my friend, including some fun nail polish and masks. A little learning toy is a necessity and I found the color card at Prints, fitting the color scheme nicely.

I hope Emi and her mommy love it! xoxo

Fruit & Flowers

Do you follow the traditional gifts for anniversaries? We do, although often with our own take; for example, the first year we decided “paper” meant plane tickets, so we flew to Paris. This past Friday marked 4 years married for my husband and me. We weren’t going to travel, so I was trying to come up with a thoughtful gift that showed how much the past 4 years have meant to me.

We decided on fruit and flowers was the traditional gift for this year, and I started brainstorming {translation: looking on pinterest}. I saw a picture of a fruit pie and it clicked immediately. My husband loves pie {even over cake!} especially mixed berry. I found Pretty Please Pies to custom make one in Hong Kong and my man couldn’t have been happier. It might be the best gift I have ever given him. {side note: this awesome baker made sure I had my pie for my anniversary, even as she was on her way to the hospital with appendicitis!}

This is how we celebrated our every day {or year, as the case may be}. What did you do for your 4th anniversary?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We just got back from a Chinese New Year trip so I’m feeling a little behind in getting things together for my loved ones.

After a couple of days away reconnecting with my husband, it reminded me of how much fun we have together and how bright and wonderful he makes my life. He is so kind and thoughtful and always makes sure I have everything I need. And what kind of husband moves half way across the world to make sure his wife can follow her dreams? An incredible one, for sure.

So, baby, this post is for you. Thank you for being the amazing man that you are and for loving me. I can’t wait to figure out this new life with you. This day seems like the perfect opportunity to tell you that I appreciate you each and every day. I love you more than you know.

I hope you all have a wonderful, love-filled day! xoxo

A Gorgeous Dress for Life

I’m a big fan of commissioned art work to commemorate a day, or moment– or dress. My mom got us a gorgeous painting for our wedding day, and I recently had a piece done of the two of us for Christmas.

These beautiful, stylized paintings and sketches would be an awesome personalized gift for a bridal shower or wedding gift. I can imagine one hanging in a boudoir for many years to come.  Nice work, Diane Bronstein.

January Love

Is it terrible that I am lusting after these things so soon after Christmas?

I love these thank you cards. I need to make some.

My hubby wants this apron.
