Egg-tastic Decorating

Inspired by my blog post last week, I was pondering having a crafty day with kids and friends over this long weekend on our terrace. Then the torrential rains came and that was no longer an option, so an awesome friend offered to host. After the initial idea, she ran with it, creating a fabulously fun and  messy day for a bunch of little girls– and me.

The adults handled the egg dying {one of the mothers was a pro- thank goodness!}—

while we munched on some yummy food–bunny sandwiches, raisin and carrot muffins, carrot shaped kiddie treats, and fruit.

Once the eggs were dyed, the kids got to decorating. Painting, beads, glue, glitter, and tissue paper were all options.

While those dried, we played pin the nose on the bunny. Using the first letter of our names to mark our attempts, everyone spun around blindfolded trying to mark the nose. The kids loved this part, as my friend’s daughter displays. Love her!

And then we had an easter egg hunt! {using plastic eggs, not the decorated ones}

It was such a fun day! Adults and kids are now ready for Easter!

On the Burner…

I’ve got some fun, exciting things that I am working on {one you will see as early as this weekend!}, and, as always, a lot of things on my mind. Thought I’d share a few…

Egg Decorating Fun

One of my dearest friends in Washington, DC had an egg decorating party around this time last year. I’m missing her right now, thinking about the fun we had with glitter. Here are some ideas to help us run circles around the competition!

Ides of March

St. Patty’s Day is nearly upon us and the chance to wear lots o green! While I draw the line at green beer, I do love shamrocks and their Event Lucky connotation. Here’s a few ways to incorporate some four leaf clovers into your life– or just your weekend.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We just got back from a Chinese New Year trip so I’m feeling a little behind in getting things together for my loved ones.

After a couple of days away reconnecting with my husband, it reminded me of how much fun we have together and how bright and wonderful he makes my life. He is so kind and thoughtful and always makes sure I have everything I need. And what kind of husband moves half way across the world to make sure his wife can follow her dreams? An incredible one, for sure.

So, baby, this post is for you. Thank you for being the amazing man that you are and for loving me. I can’t wait to figure out this new life with you. This day seems like the perfect opportunity to tell you that I appreciate you each and every day. I love you more than you know.

I hope you all have a wonderful, love-filled day! xoxo

Citrus and Chinese New Year

Being from Florida, I am partial to eating oranges in the winter, since they are at their freshest. Turns out, oranges are also popular for Chinese New Year (or lunar new year). They are considered symbols of abundance and good fortune {and their golden hue doesn’t hurt!} so they are often seen around town, used for decorations and gifts. We even have one in our office!

As Chinese New Year is quickly approaching {we have a couple of days off next week!}, here’s a beautiful wreath from Design*Sponge using winter citrus. Make it just for fun, or to add to a celebration of dumplings and fireworks this weekend!

Heart Love

I have some party ideas I want to share with you {a couple of baby showers and a little girl’s birthday} but they haven’t made it out of my head yet. So instead I’m sharing a bit of Valentine’s Day inspiration. I hope you feel the love all way from Hong Kong!

January Love

Is it terrible that I am lusting after these things so soon after Christmas?

I love these thank you cards. I need to make some.

My hubby wants this apron.
