This past weekend, I invited some friends to a private art gallery to learn more about Japanese prints. It’s a space that I love spending time, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to share it. Even though the owner of the gallery hosted the event in her space, I couldn’t help but add an Event Lucky flair to it.
I sent the invites out via Paperless Post.
It was a hot and steamy Sunday, but perfect for light snacks in a cool gallery.
The owner of the gallery gave a great introduction to Japanese prints. It was so interesting– I was really into it!
Afterwards, the group talked and enjoyed the art! And everyone left with a Hello Kitty! cookie as a little reminder of their Japanese afternoon.
Thanks so much for a lovely afternoon! xoxo

Just to be up-front, some of these are party related, and some not! But living in a small space {300 square feet inside!} everything needs to be multi-purpose. As I am a bit out of the cupcake making mode, we’ve only been using our muffin tin a couple times a year. But that’s changing with some of these ideas! {via The Kitchn}
Just as things are starting to heat up in Hong Kong we are finally ready to start hosting. I mentioned my potential half birthday party, I’m co-hosting an art event this coming weekend, and I’m trying to get a dinner party on the calendar.
I’m not a huge pasta eater {I usually reserve it for nights we are tired and cold and don’t want to cook} but after seeing these adorable take aways, I’m really tempted to have an Italian night. Especially here, where sauce prices are higher due to import, people would adore and cherish a jar of homemade marinara.
Cute, right? Working on my guest list…
I’m sorry for being a bit MIA— if you follow me on Facebook, you know last week was a big week in the lives of many of my closest friends. One friend had a baby (Baby Emi has joined us!), one friend got engaged, and one friend got married! So I’ve been busy celebrating, even from afar.
So things are still a bit hectic, but I saw these awesome animal DIY puppets, I had to share. Aren’t they so cute? And easy to make!
Ok– Last post on the baby shower box for Emi. My friend picked a beautiful name for her daughter {Emi is Japanese for blessed}, so I was able to personalize the box, something just for her.
I cut out the pennants and letters on my Silhouette and assembled it. For the tassels, the gold was a little too much, so I flipped the paper over, using the white side, so the gold just peaks through. I love that it adds just a bit of shine.
I hope they will get some use out of it, to welcome her home or to decorate her room. I loved making it for them!
I wanted to share some pictures of the ribbon mobile I made for Baby Emi. I’m not sure it photographs well laying down, so I took a few of it hanging. I also thought this could be a great hands-on project for a baby shower– or many hung together for decoration!
This was one of the harder projects, and one of the reasons the box barely made it before the baby did! At first I thought I would do 3 tiers, then the ribbons kept coming off, then I changed my mind on the colors… Due to this my “in process” photos won’t really help. I did finally pulled it together and think it turned out really nice!
In the end I used a simple slip knot and slid a bit of glue under the loop to ensure it stayed tight. I kept the hanging ribbons long to make it adjustable {and safe!} in the baby’s room.
The silver ribbon was a last minute addition, and I think it really added to the final product.
I hope Baby Emi likes it!
I’ve got some fun, exciting things that I am working on {one you will see as early as this weekend!}, and, as always, a lot of things on my mind. Thought I’d share a few…
Peanut butter banana smoothies for quick breakfast on the run.
I love this adorable pouf, while I search and search for outdoor cushions.
Amazing egg decorations!
I love that weddings are so wonderfully diverse these days. Here are four things that really caught my eye recently.
60 bridal hair styles on Snippet & Ink.
Soda bottle escorts cards? Not so practical, but incredibly cute.
One of my dearest friends in Washington, DC had an egg decorating party around this time last year. I’m missing her right now, thinking about the fun we had with glitter. Here are some ideas to help us run circles around the competition!
