I told you all that I was moving a couple of weeks ago— but I didn’t mention where or any of the other details that made it so hard– and so exciting! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you might have already gathered this news, but I think it’s time to officially let the cat out of the bag.
A little back story first. I lived in Hong Kong about 5 years ago. I got really sick and was pretty wrecked, health wise. {this was the beginning of my dairy intolerance} I moved back to the US and slowly built my health back up, but it probably took a year before I recovered and learned to manage my new sensitivities. In those 5 years in the US I got engaged, married, moved to New York, my husband started and completed grad school, I got into {and loved} arts education, I started this blog, we moved to DC, and started planning events for some wonderful clients.
…But I always wanted to move back overseas. I loved my life in Hong Kong and the focus on life experiences rather than things. My husband and I always talked about moving again, but it never quite happened. After finishing a particularly tough job, I played with a couple of ideas of what was next. I travelled around {you may have noticed!} got some training, and tried to find something that would “stick.” I think I secretly knew what I wanted to do. So my husband and I talked– and we decided to move back to Hong Kong!
It was hard to sell all of our furniture {and my screen printer!}, pack up only our most valuable things, throw away tons, and say good bye {for a bit} to our friends and families. But we decided it was worth it to go after what we really wanted.
To be honest, I’m not sure how this move will effect this blog. I may not blog as often, or have many DIYs {until we start decorating our new apartment, anyway!}. But I do know events will always be a part of my life, a part of who I am, no matter where I am. I love sharing thoughts, ideas and tips with all of you, and getting your feedback. And I have loved my experience here, and this awesome community, and my fantastic readers, connecting with you all. Maybe you will be willing to go on this journey with me, as I find the next phase of Event Lucky?
In the meantime, I hope you’ll keep coming back. I’ll share my thoughts, stories and experiences — and of course, event inspirations! If there is anything you’d like to contribute or things you would like to see– I’d love to hear from you.
