Happy Valentine’s Day!

We just got back from a Chinese New Year trip so I’m feeling a little behind in getting things together for my loved ones.

After a couple of days away reconnecting with my husband, it reminded me of how much fun we have together and how bright and wonderful he makes my life. He is so kind and thoughtful and always makes sure I have everything I need. And what kind of husband moves half way across the world to make sure his wife can follow her dreams? An incredible one, for sure.

So, baby, this post is for you. Thank you for being the amazing man that you are and for loving me. I can’t wait to figure out this new life with you. This day seems like the perfect opportunity to tell you that I appreciate you each and every day. I love you more than you know.

I hope you all have a wonderful, love-filled day! xoxo

Annual Birthday Calendar

Do you use birthday calendars? I do. I have a big family, so transferring everyone’s special day to a new date book each year was quite a task. But these birthday calendars let you mark anniversaries, birthdays and other annual events — and they are accurate for years and years.

Even better? This one is free and printable. {click here to print!}

Citrus and Chinese New Year

Being from Florida, I am partial to eating oranges in the winter, since they are at their freshest. Turns out, oranges are also popular for Chinese New Year (or lunar new year). They are considered symbols of abundance and good fortune {and their golden hue doesn’t hurt!} so they are often seen around town, used for decorations and gifts. We even have one in our office!

As Chinese New Year is quickly approaching {we have a couple of days off next week!}, here’s a beautiful wreath from Design*Sponge using winter citrus. Make it just for fun, or to add to a celebration of dumplings and fireworks this weekend!

A Gorgeous Dress for Life

I’m a big fan of commissioned art work to commemorate a day, or moment– or dress. My mom got us a gorgeous painting for our wedding day, and I recently had a piece done of the two of us for Christmas.

These beautiful, stylized paintings and sketches would be an awesome personalized gift for a bridal shower or wedding gift. I can imagine one hanging in a boudoir for many years to come.  Nice work, Diane Bronstein.

Super Cool Schoolhouse Wedding

You may or may not know that my day job is in education. For the past 5+ years I’ve worked for and partnered with public schools in the US and now abroad — and I have met some of the most passionate, smart, amazing people working hard to make change. So this vintage wedding in a schoolhouse speaks to me– and to all of those awesome Ed people I have the pleasure of knowing.

Diane + Jason, with their guest list being as small and intimate as a classroom size of 30, the schoolhouse was the perfect wedding venue for them. I love all of their personal touches and details to make this room their own. {via 100 Layer Cake}
