Artisan Popsicles

With these hot summer days coming fast and furious, I needed something to cool me down. Last year I bought some sailboat popsicle molds, so I was excited to make some cute, but adult flavored goodies this summer.

We decided on balsamic-strawberry-basil, peach with blueberries, and cucumber mojito {which I think we took a little seriously and didn’t freeze all the way through with all the booze we put in. oops.}

We made up the recipes a bit– fresh fruit, juice and herbs, and sugar, blended. A few whole pieces added to the mold when we poured the ingredients in. Then into the freezer!

I went for bright colors in my flavors. Can you tell?  Wouldn’t it be fun to make the red, white and blue for tomorrow’s festivities?

I could just lick the screen! How about you?

Christmas Is Coming — Into My Apartment

I hope your Thanksgiving was marvelous!!  So what are you doing today? Shopping or decorating?

Me? I’m decorating! I’ll take some pictures when it’s done, but I wanted to share my inspirations. Do you mind?

I’m still loving blue and snowflakes. Maybe it’s the kid in me? {All images from Target}

Then, to give it a modern edge, I’m pairing it with black & white. {this banner is downloadable, by the way!}

And– partially because I can’t help myself, and partially to help it blend in with my every day decor, there will be some green thrown in. And stars.

I’ll save the wrapping paper for another post!

What about you? What is your holiday theme this year? xoxo

A Twist on a Baby Shower

As a follow up to yesterday’s post on baby showers…I saw this very cute party idea from Artsy Fartsy Shopaholic via createmyevent.com and decided it needed it’s own day.  I am not big into gender themes (pink for a girl, blue for a boy), and this party allows for that, as well as building lots of excitement for everyone!

Erika, due in August with her first baby– and quite the party planner, if I do say so myself– decide to have a Gender Reveal Party. How fun is that? On the day of her ultrasound, she asked the technician to write down the sex of the baby on note card and put it in an envelope (and,of course, not tell them). She and her husband dropped the envelope off with a friend, who could be trusted with the information.

For the party that evening, guests got to guess right along with couple for the sex of the baby. Only the friend with the envelope knew the sex, and she kept mum. The friend baked cupcakes, secretly dying them pink or blue. The parents and the guests would find out the sex at the same time– as they bit into the sweet treat!

Looks like the guests guessed right– Erika is having a girl!

What a cute way to welcome a baby! Congrats Erika!
