Baby Shower in a Box

One of the hardest things about living overseas is being {and sometimes feeling} far away from your friends and family during important times in their lives. Technology has made it a lot easier to stay in touch and even be a part of big days, but sometimes things you can touch and feel make your relationship more tangible.

One of my dearest friends in New York is nearly due with a little girl named Emi. The mother-t0-be is one of the strongest people I know, and yet physically one of the smallest! This kick-ass lady loves pink like nobodies business so I know her baby will be dressed as the princess- and athlete– that she will become. I can’t wait for this litte girl to be born and I couldn’t help but put together a box of love for Emi and her mommy.

My friend also spent some time in Hong Kong, so I added some items that are specific to the region, like this baby book and tiny chinese slippers {ok, and maybe to remind Emi of her Aunt Sara} . I made a banner– for her room or to welcome her home, personalized special. I also made the mobile, and put together a little pampering kit for my friend, including some fun nail polish and masks. A little learning toy is a necessity and I found the color card at Prints, fitting the color scheme nicely.

I hope Emi and her mommy love it! xoxo

Paper Love

I have weddings on the brain this week. These stationery pieces are not only gorgeous, but are helping me get into the wedding zone. {what? It’s a thing.}

This invitation walks the perfect line between modern and vintage, classy and fun.

Being that I am a huge bookworm, this invitation suite is perfect in every way.

These adorable recipe cards would be perfect for a wedding shower. {favors or a gift for the bride to be, filled with her family and friends favorites} Even better? It’s a free printable!

Bus Proposal

I’m already feeling a little overwhelmed by the season— how about you? Sometimes I love it {especially when drinking hot chocolate!} and sometimes it is just plain tiring. So let’s take little break and talk about OTHER important things that happen this season– proposals!

I love this adorable custom book the groom-to-be had created by Hello!Lucky to ask his girlfriend to marry him. And that he used a bus reference– well, that just makes it all the cuter.

She said yes, of course! Wouldn’t you?

Congrats to the couple! xoxo

A Bon Voyage Gift

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend the Design*Sponge craft event. After we finished crafting and I was standing in line to have Grace sign my book, I started thinking about my friend Liza. She made the big decision to move back to Belgium — and has big plans to DIY decorate and renovate. I realized that she would really dig this book and it would be a great going away gift for this really great friend in my life. So I had Grace sign it to her, I wrapped it up with a ribbon, and gave it to her with a luggage tag.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the card as well, as I think that might have been her favorite part.

I can’t wait to see the pictures as she tries out the tips in the book! xoxo

Stuck?

I know I talk about washi tape all the time, but its such a fun product. It’s good for so many things. I’ve used on home projects {here and here} and event projects {herehere and here}, but I wanted to do a round up on some of the more creative uses of the tape. Some less obvious uses for tape.

How about to decorate and personalize vases:

Or to decorate furniture:

Or table numbers on top:

To decorate presents:

Or cards and tags:

Or, with school starting, use it to cover your books:

And– did you hear? They now have large size washi for covering the walls. OMG. My walls will never be the same.

Any other ideas? I’d love to hear them!

Do you know how ardently I love and admire you?

I told you about  my bride, but did I also tell you that she is my friend? When we worked together, she was reading Sense and Sensibility. She loved it and loves Jane Austen. So when she invited me to her bridal shower (what a sweetie), I knew just what I wanted to get her.

My bride sent me a picture of the beautiful edition of Sense and Sensibility she bought herself– so I got her the matching edition of Pride and Prejudice…

To go with this great framed quote by Mr. Darcy.

It’s perfect for a newlywed home, right? I got the frame from Etsy and a double mat from Michaels.

And, due to some shipping mishaps, the Etsy seller sent me a smaller matching frame. I used that to frame her adorable save-the- date magnets, with a sheet of orange paper behind to make it pop.

Here’s the entire gift.

And she must have liked it, because she cried when she opened it!

For her wedding gift, I’ll be sure to go to the registry, but I was glad I could do something creative and fun for her shower gift. xoxo

Book for Event Planners

I just got a great book in the mail from a good friend that I had to share with you— Every Person on the Planet by Bruce Eric Kaplan.

It’s about a couple that decide to throw a party– and while creating an extensive guest list end up inviting everyone in the world.  It’s a quick read (10 minutes) and super cute, going through their planning process and the party.  I laughed out loud numerous times.

I know the gift giving season is over, but it’s definitely worth a read. Any party planner– or anyone who has thrown a party– or even been to one will enjoy this book!

Thanks Bri! Such a great gift!
