A Celebration of Life

I am traveling this week to be with my family as my grandmother passed away, so posting may be light.

My grandmother was 94 and spit fire until the end. Even in the hospital, sick and small as she was, she was swinging at the nurses to leave her alone. She lived with my mom for the past 12+ years– it is so hard to imagine her not being there to greet us, watching the Game Show Network. She loved Lord & Taylor and was was particular about what she wore– it had to be just so. {maybe the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!}

She started my love of emerald and was so proud at my college graduation. She always loved little debbie snacks so I want to have them at her services. I made these cut-outs on my Silhouette to dress up the oatmeal creme pies– but, honestly, it was soothing to craft and to plan her celebration.

I love you, Grandma.

Traveling Baby Shower

When I throw parties to celebrate exciting moments in friends or families life, it is often when I am traveling. I have lived  in 5 cities in the last 8 years and thankfully have many close friends all over the world. Or, if I can’t be there to celebrate the actual event I want to do something special when we are together. So I am totally impressed at what these two ladies did for their roommate, who is having a baby, at a conference.

Did I mention they are in a hotel room?

Adorable, right? Inspiration for sure.

Red Velvet Birthday

I love this sweet, simple birthday celebration that Caroline of Coeur De La put together for her sister. Her sister loves red velvet cupcakes, so Caroline made some (using Paula Dean’s recipe), packaged them up cute, and brought a bottle of Cupcake’s Red Velvet wine {I didn’t know they made this, so I gotta try it} for them to enjoy some sisterly time together. Because isn’t that what celebrating is really about, anyway?

Sure, add balloons or whatever decorations on top– they are just icing on the cake. But don’t forget the candle!

Anniversary

Even special times for 2 can be events! Loving this special anniversary celebration.

P.S. Finally think I can do an update of the camping party! Expect an installment this Thursday!

P.P.S. I decided that next week will be Christmas Crafts! I am really excited to share some ideas with you! xoxo
