Wouldn’t these be awesome on a small table for book club or a library themed wedding or a fairy tale birthday party? It would be hard to cut up a book, but the results are amazing. {via Geek Tyrant}

DIY Modern Gold Planters
I had so much fun with my gold barrettes last week that I knew I wanted to do more with gold paint. {The other items in our apartment should be on high alert!}
We got a bunch of planters during a visit to IKEA awhile back. They were only a few dollars each, so we stocked up with the idea that we would plant herbs and cat grass. We didn’t end up doing much of that, so our pots were looking forlorn and empty.
So I used some painters tape to create some designs on the pots…
And used the same trusty gold paint to create these beauties.
I didn’t have any flowers on hand, but I plan to fill these with a bouquet and use them as vases for my next dinner party. Just a few coats of gold paint really made these planters come to life. Not just for potted plants anymore!
Farmers Market Flowers: 2 More Ways
Day 3– and final– of my adventure in floral design. Yesterday I decided that I preferred the single bloom look, especially with the black and white polka dots. So I today I’m combining those elements to come up with 2 new looks.
First up, I used a straight sided bowl (also from Jamali), with the polka dots showing through the water. It looks very serene, doesn’t it?
Then, I tried covering with the cloche — and it went from calm to centerpiece worthy. Don’t you think?
I hope that you enjoyed my experiments in flower design as much as I did! Maybe it even spiked some inspiration in you!
Farmers Market Flowers: Glass Cloche
Day 2 in my adventures in floral design! I got this fun bell jar cover at Jamali and couldn’t wait to try out it’s level of party fun.
To use it for a dinner or shower, I’d need to add a little sprinkle or sparkle; I went for polka dots. I added a single bloom– and loved how it turned out. The red flower with the black and white add a bit of Alice in Wonderland, don’t you think?
This is so simple and cost effective (with only one bloom) and would add a little bit of fun for any dinner or party.
I also tried out 3 blooms, for a more lush experience.
I love the mix of colors and textures this look offers.
Which do you prefer? Do you have a favorite? At just $12.99 for the cloche and $.75 per stem, you can’t beat this bang for the buck.
Simple Beautiful Centerpieces
Still thinking about the Ask-A-Planner question from Friday on affordable wedding centerpieces. I love this look– glass bottles and a single green stem. Structural and warm. {via Design*Sponge}

Modern Trend: Baby’s Breath
One of the bride’s I am working with for her October wedding booked a gorgeous modern space with views of Manhattan. She wants to add some vintage touches, and I think baby’s breath could be the way to go. Before you judge, take a look– used in large quantities and in modern shapes, it looks almost sparkly {like stars} but still give an unpretentious, comfortable feeling.
Did I change your mind about baby’s breath? xoxo

Loving Me a Gold Christmas Party
Just a little party I am dreaming about…
Love these decorations:
With this backdrop for photos.
Using these glasses for merriment.
Sprinkle these across an all white table.
But add gold silverware and escort cards.
What do you think? Would you come to my party? xoxo
Golden Parties
You guys know how much I love gold– so I love this round up of using gold at parties. So Fun! {via That’s Happy}

I think I’ll be adding to this list– how about you? xoxo
Fun with Donuts
Maybe it’s the hurricane, or the earthquake, or both in one week— but I am thinking about donuts. Yummy fried dough goodness. There are so many great way to incorporate them into a party.
Why pick donuts or a cake? How about a donut cake…
Or donut cupcakes…
Or how about donut kebobs…
And there are lots of ways to incorporate donuts into your late night snack…
With hot chocolate…
Or with coffee…
I think I need to find a donut now…
