Ethereal Wedding

Happy New Year!! I hope your 2012 is starting off grand! I’m ready to jump right into it, are you?

My Baltimore bride used to be a dancer, and wants an ethereal wedding of organic, natural elements. Although the vision has changed a bit since the beginning, this is the inspiration board I put together for her when we started. I still find it quite beautiful.

{I made this quite awhile ago, and lost the sources of these images. If one is yours, and you would like credit, please let me know.}

Beautiful Backgrounds

Colorful backdrops make for great pictures– and these people seem to know it. Here are some creative ideas to plus up the background of your next party-and photos.

I love this use of colorful strips of fabric . It looks fantastic!

The setting of this wedding is already amazing, but the lights hung like moss take it to another level.

The sheer curtains used at this bridal shower look great in the windows…

And behind the food table.

These streamers make a big impact– at low cost!

What do you think? Will you try one of these colorful backgrounds?

Party Favors

We all know that take home favors really take a party to the next level. You know that your host is thoughtful and paying attention to details. So I have rounded up some fun favor containers for you! I hope this will offer some inspiration for your next party!

Paper bags are so great– and you can do so many things with them!

I love these striped ones:

Or you can print a personalized message on them.

How about a muslin bag? You could make these up pretty quickly!

Or felt? There are lots of shape choices here!

Beautiful fabric is always an option– and way to use up some old scraps!

What about boxes? These colorful boxes can be used for so many things!

And this container is great for pie!

What about something a little different? Instead of sending your guests home with cupcakes, send them home with the fixin’s!

Or how about making the bubbles formula and packing it super cute?

Did this round up inspire you to try something new? What are your favorite containers for favors?

Create Your Own Fabric

Do you remember last season’s Project Runway when they designed their own fabric?

I was  jealous.  So I was really excited when I heard about Spoonflower — a new online company that will print your design on a variety of fabrics.  How cool is that? Think of the design opportunities!

You can get quilting cotton, cotton sateen, interlocking knit, upholstery fabric, linen cotton canvas or cotton lawn. And with prices starting at $18/yard (or less, if you want a smaller sample) and a turn around of about 8 days– there are so many possibilities!

You can even purchase designs that others have created.

How about this one?

And this one is really cute, too.

Love this new find!

Creative Approaches to Decorating Vases

Centerpieces were a big sticking point while planning my wedding. My husband has very strong ideas about what they should look like– and, I, naturally had different ideas. Needless to say, we went through many prototypes, including many vessels for flowers.

Well, in the last year people have become even more creative, by adding elements to a simple vase.  No simple bows or ribbon edging here!

I love how this fabric rosette adds pop to this vase, and still looks modern.

And covering vases in matching fabric– an idea I never thought would have worked.  It looks great and can be used in so many ways, for all kinds of parties.

(If you really love this look, you can even incorporate some of the fabric into your invites. Check them out here.)

Or how about paper bags as vases? Sounds crazy, but could look great at a country casual event. Totally affordable and you can decorate them anyway you would like. (These are waxed lined, to manage any water.)

Would you try one of these trends? Or do you have an idea to add?

Have a great weekend! xoxo
