You guys know how I am inspired by color, from parties to art, clothes to decorating. Here are some of my favorite combinations this month. I love the mix of bright and muted, dark and light. Perfect for this mixed weather month.

One of my dear friends in NYC {who was also one of my brides} is pregnant and I couldn’t be more excited for her. I think I am more disappointed than she is that I am not in town to plan her shower. She’s got tons of style, and she’s started her own bakery, with a focus on healthy treats out of her home, one of the ideas I’d consider for her would be a cooking themed baby shower. This is what I can’t decide– to cook sweet or savory! I think the “Bun in the Oven” could be sweet (haha) and fun, but this gorgeous, healthy vegetable cooking themed would be great for her summer baby– maybe something like “Freshly Picked.”
Take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think!

As summer turns into fall, colors are a daily battle in my wardrobe, with cooler tones invading. One day soon I’m going to put away my summer brights and take out my winter essentials…maybe.

Even though we are in September, it’s not quite fall {we have another week!} — so I am going to enjoy the bright colors while I can!
I put together this casual look for a dinner party, as a way to bring the outdoors in. This time of year often brings a few showers, so here’s a way to enjoy the flowers from the comfort of your own home.
The runner is wrapping paper that I picked up from Target, most likely from their $1 section {one of my favorite places to shop}. I used the striped gold paper and cups to play with the pattern and add some sophistication. The tea towel napkin and tea tin votives ensure that the look stays casual and doesn’t get too fussy, while the colored vases make the flowers pop. I painted a few of the petals gold to add some sparkle to the centerpieces.
This look is simple and fun— easy to put together with items you already have around your house. Enjoy your last days of summer!
To help cling on to the last moments of summer {as you know I am} I put together some of my favorite cocktails. Some from bars, some from my own kitchen, but all delicious. These drinks got me through the summer…and then some.
Margarita {tequila, fresh lime juice, simple syrup,triple sec, a dash of beer}
Glamourous @ the Mandarin Oriental {Bombay Sapphire Gin, Grand Marnier, Galliano, rose syrup, fresh lemon juice}
Elderflower Spritzer@ Busboys & Poets {St. Germain, vodka, muddled strawberries and lemons, champagne}
Paloma {grapefruit soda, silver tequila, fresh lime juice}
I’m not big on nail art {it’s time consuming and looks a bit tacky} even as I love bold colors. But this new trend of fun tips is really making me rethink my stance. It adds a classy bit of color and excitement to plain nails or a bit of design to fully painted ones. Either way, it’s a trend to try!

Are you all noticing this triangle trend? It’s everywhere, from structured chevron to free flow shapes to tribal looks. This look is definitely ”in.” {via Oh So Beautiful Paper}

My favorite summer seasonal fruit has got to be peaches. I dream about big, juicy Georgia peaches {although other peaches will do} and try to get in as many as I can during their few weeks of perfect ripeness. Although I love them cold and straight from the fridge, these fun recipes ensure that I will get my peach fix in this year. {via Camille Styles}
Bacon, Peach and Arugula Sandwich {trying this one first!}

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! xoxo
My mom is the expert on summer picnic style rehearsal dinners; I helped her put one together for my brother’s wedding and she hosted a wonderful BBQ party for my own rehearsal dinner. This set up is cute– and the tips on One Lovely Day will elevate any picnic party.
